  11. There’s a lot of incorrect information in this video.

    First of all, ffmpeg is an encoder / AV processing application. It is NOT a codec!

    Xvid / DivX are both implementations of MPEG-4 ASP, and are playable on nearly any operating system, thanks to ffmpeg’s libavcodec (used by VLC, ffdshow, etc)

    x264 is an MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoder. It delivers better quality than Xvid/DivX at any data rate.

    Also, don’t composite progressive video on top of interlaced video. It makes you look incompetent.

  15. I’ve had some really good success encoding x264 in the .avi container. It uploads to youtube extremely well. But I am definitely going to have to play around some more with encoding.
