Question by Carpetfizz:
How do you make animations with HTML5?

Hi,
I currently have a website and wanted to include some animations in it. I don’t want to use Flash, but HTML5 instead. I know how to program in HTML, and I know that there are several new tags in HTML5. But, how do you make animations? Is there a software program designed for HTML5 like Adobe Flash?

Thank You!

If there is a certain software, please check if it’s for Mac OSX.

Best answer:

Answer by Ron
You don’t make animations with HTML 5.0. That is the new web standard with new document type and CSS 3.0. You make animations with any good animation program.

I don’t have a Mac so you’ll have to check these to see if they do animations:

I think GIMP is compatible or they have a separate download for Mac:

Is this what you mean? It’s called GSpot codec identifier, and it’s a free download … as in, it doesn’t cost you anything … ever!

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 22, 2010

In a sign of strength at a tumultuous time in the media business, an annual study released today reveals that advertising spending in the gay press in 2009 was at a record high.

According to the 2009 Gay Press Report released today by advertising agency Prime Access and gay media representative firm Rivendell Media, spending in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) publications was up 13.6%, earning a record $ 349.6 million in advertising revenues. By comparison, consumer magazine revenues saw a loss of 15.6% over the same time period, reaching its lowest point since 1998.

While the study reveals that the number of ads in the LGBT press decreased by 6.8% compared to 2008, it found that advertising revenue itself increased tracing to the placement of larger ads overall.

“The findings in the report confirm the strength and value of gay media,” said Prime Access founder and CEO Howard Buford. “Advertisers are finding the market to be a solid investment, and many publications in the gay press have increased ad revenue despite a very difficult media market.”

“The numbers do not lie, and even I was surprised at how gay media held its own in such a tough market,” noted Todd Evans, president and CEO of Rivendell Media. “Gay media sales have always doubled in past recessions as companies focus their media on their best customers. While we didn’t see that kind of increase this year, the numbers are still significant.”

The study also noted a dramatic increase in advertising created specifically for gay consumers. In gay publications overall, the percentage of gay-specific ads (ads that directly portray gay and lesbian consumers and their lives through artwork and/or messages) has now reached an all time high of 61.9%, up from only 9.9% in 2002. And in national gay publications, gay-specific ads are clearly the rule, comprising almost nine-tenths of all ads.

“We continue to find that gay-specific advertising is by far the most effective with this audience, producing the biggest return on investment.” added Buford.

The Gay Press Report has been produced annually since 1994 to provide a unique, historical perspective on the gay and lesbian market. Since 1999, Prime Access and Rivendell Media have published the report. To view the 2009 report in its entirety, please visit:

http://rivendellmedia.com/documents/gaypressreport2009.pdf, or

http://www.primeaccess.net/downloads/news/2009_Gay_Press_Report.Final.pdf

Among the other findings in the 2009 Gay Press Report:
LGBT advertising revenues have grown a robust 377% since 1996, demonstrating that ad revenues in the gay and lesbian press grew more than ten times faster than that of consumer magazines.

In 2009, the gay and lesbian press consisted of 251 issues (27 fewer than in 2008), representing 136 individual titles; an increase of six titles since 2008.

Because of fewer issues, however, the combined circulation of all LGBT publications is now 2,387,750, down a significant 27.6% since 2008.

About Rivendell Media

Rivendell Media (www.rivendellmedia.com) is the leading gay media representative firm in the United States. Rivendell represents over 200 LGBT publications, websites and digital properties in the US and Canada.

About Prime Access

Question by rossbuniao: Should I still learn flash or wait for HTML5 tutorials?
I’m still interested in being a web designer, but would like to know whether or not I should learn flash since HTML5 is starting to become more prevalent in the future. Also, is there any other skills I need to learn? I’ve already know HTML, CSS, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I might try to learn some JavaScript too but don’t want to get involved with programming languages since I’m not good with object oriented programming.

Answer by Bruce
Go for HTML 5… Flash was good in its day, but the latest versions have many problems.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) December 16, 2005

Jill C. Manning, the marriage and family therapist who has testified before Congress concerning the harmful effects of pornography, will appear in the CP80 forums, December 16 from 2-4 p.m. (MDT) to answer questions concerning the harmful effects of pornography and specifically Internet pornography.

“It is critical that the public become aware of the many negative effects and trends Internet pornography is having on marriages and families, said Jill Manning, I look forward to helping individuals understand what the pornography industry might not want them to know.

A large part of the CP80 Internet Channel Initiative is educating the public about the Internet and pornography. CP80 hopes to increase people’s awareness of the social, legal, medical and technological issues surrounding Internet pornography through a series of guest appearances in their forums located at www.cp80.org/forums/.

Matthew Yarro, Vice President of Marketing for CP80, said, People need to understand the issues they need to understand exactly how pornography is affecting them, and how the Internet has only aggravated an already dangerous situation.

Internet pornography is not just going to go away just because we pretend that its not there. People need to get informed and get involved with a solution. We think that CP80 is an excellent solution.

Jill Manning is the first guest to appear in the CP80 forums. CP80 hopes to announce a schedule of other noted experts whom will appear in the forums in 2006.

About Jill Manning

San Francisco Java, PHP, and HTML5 user groups hosted an event on May 11th, 2010 on HTML5 with three amazing speakers: Brad Neuberg from Google, Giorgio Sardo from Microsoft, and Peter Lubbers from Kaazing. In this first of the three videos, Brad Neuberg from Google (formerly an HTML5 advocate and currently a Software Engineer on the Google Buzz team) explains why HTML5 matters – to consumers as well as developers! His overview of HTML5 included SVG/Canvas rendering, CSS transforms, app-cache, local databases, web workers, and much more. He also identified the scope and practical implications of the changes that are coming along with HTML5 support in modern browsers. This event was organized by Marakana, Michael Tougeron from Gamespot, and Bruno Terkaly from Microsoft. Microsoft was the host and Marakana, Gamespot, Medallia, TEKsystems, and Guidewire Software sponsored the event. marakana.com
Any further comments about the pronunciation of this term will result in comments being deleted. Again, I would like to urge all viewers to think carefully before posting any comment and to limit their comments to constructive ones that add to the conversation and to the tutorial. I heavily moderate this video and its associated comments. [Update - 1/08/2010] If you need to grab a 64-bit version of the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec, an alternative to Huffy, you can get it here: lags.leetcode.net [Update - 12/19/2009] It seems that you can’t get MeGUI through x264.nl anymore. You’ll need to pick it up directly from sourceforge: sourceforge.net Commenting: Feel free to post questions and suggestions in a friendly manner. Failing to do so will get your comment removed. First and Foremost: My apologies for the black bars on the side of the video. My native screen resolution is 1680×1050 16:10 and youtube displays videos at 16:9. I didn’t want to change the aspect ratio as I feel that would make the video look a bit unnatural – hence the black bars. This is just a quick tutorial, for starters, on how to encode in X264 using MeGUI. This tutorial isn’t meant for those who already know what they’re doing, but you are all welcome to leave comments and criticisms regarding my video. I certainly hope this video comes in handy for those who are completely …

HQ VERSION IS UP!, thanks a ton i can’t belive i won! =D www.mediafire.com *EDIT: The HQ version my require codecs to be seen, origonaly it was codeded in the x264vfw64 codec, but ive swaped to Xvid so all you Linux users can see it as well. I have added link a the bottom of the description but strongly i recomend trying to view it without the Xvid codec first, and then if no video is visible, follow the download links and instructions accoring to the website for your OS. Be aware codecs can mess up your pc if incorrectly installed or configured, so you install Xvid at your own risk. *I am also shadowgaz on egosofts awsome forums ^_^* *I am very sorry, i totaly fogot to mention there are some huge spoilers not storyline, but ships and what not.* This is my entry into the X3 Terran Conflict video competition, this version on you tube is 89.0mb and is 5:34 long, the music and voice and video clips have been edited and therefore fall within use of creative commons, and can be used to promote the game commercially as long as credit is given to the original creators and the video itself isnt sold, the creators are as follows. Video source © X3 Terran Conflict Voice clips © X3 Terran Conflict Music in order of use: Prelude © Pendulum Blood Sugar © Pendulum When worlds Collide © Power man 5000 It is 105mb, please note the higher quality version is roughly 70% of the overall quality of the video however during video encoding I deleted the original =s, also note there may be …
